My name is Kat Barrett and I am the face behind Blossom & Bloom Counselling. I am a fully qualified counsellor, trained specifically to work with children and young people through a person-centred approach. This means that I am led by my client and their choices within the room and consider the relationship to be at the heart of the therapy process.
I offer a number of different ways to access counselling support and work with the option of talking but also working creatively with a variety of resources. For younger children who may be less able to express their emotions verbally, I provide play resources for them to be able to act out how they may be feeling and make sense of their inner world.
I work also in a hospice setting and as a result have experience in working with children and young people from diverse backgrounds with challenges including anxiety, trauma, living with disabilities, self-harm and bereavement.
As a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I adhere to a strict code of ethics, which includes on-going supervision and continuing professional development.
I am also a member of the Creative Counsellors group which enables me to access hours of training to be able to enhance my passion to work creatively with clients and create opportunities for expression without words.
